S7 & S7 Edge – Samsung flagships

Everyone of us are be damn crazy about one or the other smartphones, either iPhones, Samsung galaxy devices, Lg G series devices, etc. This craze never ends until we hold our dream in our hand for ourselves, atleast. Its obvious our craze upgrades itself once the companies announce their upgraded versions of devices.

The latest Samsung Galaxy S7 & S7 edge are our topics in this blog.

Physical overview:

S7 comes with 5.1 inches IPS LCDalways on display” with Gorilla glass protection, 1440×2560 resolution and a pixel dentsity of ~577ppi, while S7 edge comes with 5.5 inches Super Amoled curved edgealways on display” with Gorilla glass protection, 1440×2560 resolution and a pixel dentsity of ~534ppi. The S7 edge display is IP68 certified – dust & water resistant upto 1.5mtr & upto 30 minutes. It also has Gorilla Glass back panel.

Physical dimensions of the S7 are 142.4 x 69.6 x 7.9mm and the device weighs ~152gms. The dimensions of S7 edge are 150.9 x 72.6 x 7.7mm and the device weighs ~160gms.

Software:

Both S7 & S7 edge run on Android 6.0 with Samsung’s TouchWiz UI on top

Processor:

The heart of these devices are powered by the latest powerful Qualcomm Snapdagon 820, dual-core 2.15 GHz Kryo & dual-core 1.6 GHz Kryo cpu coupled with adreno 530 GPU or Exynos 8890 Octa, quad core 2.3 Ghz cortex A 53 & quad core 1.6 Ghz cortex A 53 coupled with Mali T880 MP12 GPU.

Storage:

Both these devices have 4GB of RAM and 32/64GB of internal memory and can be further expanded upto 200GB via dedicated memory card slot in single sim variants and hybrid slot in dual sim variants.

Camera:

In the camera department these smartphones come with 12MP (f/1.7) primary camers with OIS, phase detection auto-focus, led flash, and a 5MP (f/1.7) front camera.

Sensors:

Both these smartphones support fingerprint, accelerometer, gyro, proximity, compass, barometer, heart rate sensors, SpO2, bluetooth 4.2, NFC.

Battery:

The non-removable battery compartment of S7 has 3000mah Li-Ion battery while S7 edge has 3600mah Li-Ion battery and both these devices come with Quick Charge 3.0 via USB 2.0 connector. The phones also support wireless charging.

Variants:

These phones will be available in 2 variants – single & dual sim with 4G LTE connectivity and 4 colors – silver, white, gold and black.

Verdict:

These 2 flagships have excellent specifications & build quality. It will sure attract all the Samsung fans. I believe these devices will be priced around 50-60k in India targeting the high class market.
